In the early morn, before the heat of day, the cats just back from hunting and carousing, have gathered round the corners. All purring and rubbing their scent, they are eager to hear what the black cat has to say.
Memorial Day is also a celebrated feline holiday; not in the way we celebrate our war heroes with picnics and parades.
The feline holiday celebrates the memory of all the ways a cat can please people sharing their space. Being a rather self centered lot, cats need reminding annually.
To each cat colony the black cats say:
Humans love to scream and move their feet rapidly, I think it’s called dancing, when we chase a mouse. Play with your dinner. That entertains people.
If you have a favorite person, let them know, leave a mouse head on the welcome mat. It shows them we have their best interests at heart. Besides, head isn’t very good anyway, right?
Always cover your poop, which is best left in the garden. It’s the- what goes in, goes out, goes back in, goes back out principle. Humans know this as the circle of life.
Above all – Never bite a hand that is feeding you. That’s just plain stupid.
Enjoy your day. Have a purrfect Memorial Day!!
